Featuring a narrow low profile design with a lift capacity of { 30 lb | 13.6 kg }, the DGX Gears S1 Single Tank Wing is a perfect fit for AL80 / LP80 / LP85 / HP100 cylinders and it can be matched with any standard metal backplate and webbing harness. The two tank strap slot design allows for a more secure tank attachment option of using two (2) cam straps (straps not included). It is constructed from durable 1000 Denier nylon outer shell material and further enhanced with an internal heavy-duty urethane coated 200 Denier nylon laminated bladder.

With four (4) stainless steel grommets along the center spine in standard { 11 in | 27.9 cm } on center spacing it will allow for multiple buoyancy positioning options when used with a metal backplate. The internal center spine (touching the tank) also incorporates integrated roll control pads that further align the cylinder in the proper position and eliminate the need for a single tank adaptor. The elongated streamlined design evenly disperses the lift around your cylinder for a balanced configuration with zero possibility of a "taco effect."

The DGX Gears S1 Wing comes standard with a plain elbow, a { 16 in | 40.6 cm } corrugated hose, and K-style 45-Degree oral and power inflator. It does NOT include a low-pressure BC hose but if you don't already have one then we suggest a { 22 in | 56 cm } length for use with the included corrugated hose and inflator assembly. The pull dump OPV is located on the inside of the lower section of the wing on the diver's left side for easy use when in proper trim position in the water. In a vertical position the manual exhaust on the power inflator may be used for buoyancy control on descent and ascent as needed. The small DGX Gears logo is placed on the upper inside of the wing.

Actual wing weight with fittings is { 2.10 lbs | 0.9 kgs }

Approximate dimensions of wing when inflated: { 23 in H x 13 in W | 58 cm x 33 cm }

Sorry, but at this low price we are unable to make any substitutions.

My tank is ultra secure...simple and effective.

After a 15 year hiatus from diving I decided to get new gear and go the backplate and wing route. The DGX S1 wing does the trick. My tank is ultra secure with the two cam straps. The wing and inflater hose are simple and effective. I did replace the dingle-ball on the end of the purge-valve string with a larger one that's easier to grip with my, gloved, northern-California, ham hands.

I struggled with a smaller wing and found this. It is still compact and fits well on the back plate. perfect amount of lift and bouyancy when you need it and enough air to keep you at the surface after a dive. Would reccomend.

Swapped my Dive Rite Voyager EXP 35# Wing (384 USD) for this GDX Gears S1 30# (199 USD) on a GDX aluminum backplate for use during rec warm/tropic diving, photog, and light cave/wreck stuff. It's a great fit, and much more streamlined out of the box, whereas I had to use some of those OMS Silicone Retraction Bands (14 USD) to keep from making tank tacos when diving AL80 on the Voyager EXP. Keeping the Voyager EXP for colder water stuff where I'd want additional buoyancy, it's worked great 300+ dives around the world over 8years of service - Anything GR or GDX seems to be bulletproof! Suggestion for DGX - offer this DGX aircell as an option on your https://www.divegearexpress.com/dgx-custom-dive-rite-transplate-singles-package since DR doesn't really have anything comparable in that package atm and it'd drop the price point into introductory range, or perhaps introduce a new 'frankenstein' option where customers can mix and match compatible gear from different manufacturers with advice from DGX along with a harness assembly fee similar to your branded packages.

Thank you DGX for standing by your statement of carrying "time tested premium quality products at the right price". This wing is just that "time tested and premium quality". I recognized the wing's design the moment I saw it on the website, and I am SO HAPPY that DGX chose it for their Gears line because, not only is the DGX price and support stellar, but this is one of the best BCD designs out on the market! I like it so much that I gifted my old one to my lady friend and recently bought another one! You'll be hard-pressed to find a wing that runs as streamlined in the water as this one. I love diving it! With its donut wing, removable bladder, off-set inflator hose, anti-roll bars, ability to fit any backplate (including those proprietary DSS plates), extremely durable shell, just the right amount of lift, and no gaudy logo plastered across it like a billboard, what's not to like?

I got this as part of the DGX BP&W package. The wing is has a solid built & worked very well for a couple of years. Recently, I found out that the bladder came apart at the RF welded seam. DGX was prompt to send me a replacement bladder and now I am back in action. Apart for the wing being a great value, DGX customer service is absolutely fantastic! I was & will be a loyal customer for all my SCUBA gear needs.

Solid product, got one for my girlfriend and the heavy-duty nylon feels like it could take a beating. I have very little doubt that this will last a long time. Very good value. Wish there was an upgrade option for a pull-dump inflator.

I talked to DGX last week and the woman I spoke to said they could swap in a remote exhaust elbow for buyers. Just need to specify in the order comments.

The issue is the bladder flange is not designed for the remote exhaust version, we will add it upon request but don't recommend it as it requires us to use two flange gaskets to make a seal. This means the nut must be checked periodically to make sure it's always tight.

Excellent product that performs as it should. The materials and build quality are as high any other brand. The long narrow design reduces drag while providing all the roll / pitch buoyancy control one could want. At 5' 9" and 180 lbs using AL80, ~5 lbs SS BP, short STA, 1mm jumpsuit, and 4x 1 lbs trim weights on tank straps... the DGX wing provides more than enough buoyancy on the surface. Highly recommend.

I like this wing. It is very streamline. It's good in heavy currents. I dive it with a 120cf steel tank. The amount of lift is just about enough to use it comfortably with this tank & 10# of lead. Quality is on par with DiveRite. Some of the parts look interchangeable with DiveRite.

Bad BCD Maintenance = Provoking Instead of Preventing

Periodically we hear from divers who have damaged their wings by improper buoyancy control device (BCD) 'over-maintenance'. The most common damage takes the form of loss of the sealing gasket in the inflation assembly or OPV. Another common damage is cross threading of the fittings on the inflation assembly or OPV; it's very easy to do because the threads are very fine and materials relatively soft. Both of these problems occur when the diver has made a routine practice of disassembling the inflation assembly and/or the OPV. Improper maintenance of your BCD can cause a loss of buoyancy control and create a life threatening situation. Dive Gear Express recommends you do not disassemble your BCD as routine maintenance for this very reason. Maintenance of your BCD is easy, no disassembly required.

Before your dive trip, fully inflate your BCD until the OPV releases, let it sit for 15 minutes and then check to see it is still fully inflated; if not, it's leaking. The cause of a leak might be a pinch or puncture, could be damage as described above, but it also may just be a dirty salt encrusted OPV that can be rinsed with fresh water. It's also good practice to occasionally hook up your power inflator, pressurize the regulator, deflate the bladder and let the BCD sit for a while (longer the better.) Then see if the BCD has 'self-inflated', if so the power inflator is dribbling gas and should be replaced.

A test that will often provoke unnecessary maintenance is to fully inflate the BCD and allow it to sit for an extended period such as overnight. Upon inspection many hours later, the bladder is found somewhat deflated and incorrectly assumed to have a leak that needs repair. There are several benign reasons for slight leaks, but the cause is usually the fact that the spring loaded OPV sealing surfaces are not perfectly clean or in a new BCD that the bladder flange sealing gasket has settled slightly following initial assembly. You can clean the OPV or take an additional turn on the nut of the inflation assembly elbow (but NOT the entire assembly itself.) There is no need; very slight leaks are acceptable and for a BCD to not be fully inflated after sitting for many hours is commonplace. In most cases, very slight leaks will stop on their own once the BCD is wet; if the slight leak is noticeable underwater then you can take appropriate action.

After diving, hold your BCD upside down with the inflator at the lowest point and depress the oral inflate button to drain the bladder then rinse everything on the outside with a gentle spray of fresh water. Pay close attention to rinsing the 'shiny bits' and especially the power inflator quick-disconnect post. Next, while holding down the oral inflate button, use a hose to add a couple of cups of fresh water to the bladder via the oral inflate mouthpiece, swish the water around inside the bladder, invert the BCD and depress the oral inflator to again drain the water back out. Finally, add water and drain again, but this time drain it out the pull dump if your BCD has a separate combination pull dump & OPV. Then put a small puff of air in the bladder and hang it up in a ventilated area until your next dive trip. Take care not to store your BCD in an enclosed space where moisture can cause corrosion or mildew. Also be careful not to store your BCD near sources of ozone production such as electric motors or electronic devices; the ozone can cause rapid deterioration of the bladder material.

We've seen people use all sorts of stuff to 'clean' or 'sanitize' the inside of BCD bladders, and even using garden hose adapters to 'power wash' the bladder through the inflator QD post, but we think it's a poor practice. There are cleaners specifically for cleaning BCD bladders but nearly all BCD bladder materials already contain antimicrobial agents incorporated directly into the material, so no special cleaners are required. Ordinary chlorinated tap water works just fine to rinse out your BCD. Just say NO to cleaning your BCD with stuff like dilute sodium hypochlorite (aka 'liquid bleach'), alcohol-containing mouthwash (Listerine®), povidine iodine (Betadine®), or chlorhexidine (Hibiclens®). Bleach is effective but too harsh and the unavoidable splashes will damage the fabric shell. The rest of this stuff is proven ineffective in this type of application and worse many of them will actually damage the internal bladder by reacting chemically with the plastic elasticizer causing the bladder to become brittle.
