The Peregrine has been designed with a wireless rechargeable battery and includes a wireless induction charging pad. Typical dive time on a single charge is 30 hours at medium screen brightness. Although Shearwater recommends using their charging pad, the Peregrine can also be charged by the flat mats that support the Qi wireless-charging standard (which includes the latest iPhones and many Android phones).

What's in the box: Included with every Peregrine from Dive Gear Express are a 27 mm black silicone two piece wrist strap kit with installation/removal screwdriver tools, shock cord for bungee mount, zippered ballistic nylon polymer travel case, wireless charging pad and USB cable. The Peregrine also includes a PET screen protector already installed on the screen (plus a spare) to help prevent scratches of the display face. The software includes a complete dive log manager, compatible with both MS Windows and MAC OS X, and can be downloaded from Shearwater's website along with the manual. The dive log manager supports log downloads and firmware updates via the Bluetooth wireless interface. Optional accessories available separately include single color ocean blue, white, or black wrist strap kits and additional charging mats. Shearwater supplies the Peregrine with a very snug zippered "travel" case but if you want a well padded case suitable for boat use and with room for extra storage, consider adding the optional DGX Padded Storage Bag.

Advanced Nitrox Mode Features

The Peregrine has a 3-gas advanced mode that includes a complete planned decompression feature set for extended range diving. During a decompression dive, the Peregrine provides complete information displays of all required stop times. It supports a user configurable Gradient Factor and "look ahead gas" switching (based on the gases defined and active) for the planner and time-to-surface calculations. The Peregrine will NOT "lockout" after a missed stop or ascent rate violation. The Peregrine also supports 100% oxygen for accelerated decompression with a user configurable deco PO2 setting. The last stop depth is user selectable as {10 fsw | 3 msw } or {20 fsw | 6 msw }. Warnings include prompts to switch gases upon reaching a user configurable optimal PO2 setting and a stop approach notice plus an ascent rate indicator. The real-time multi-compartment "tissue" saturation bar graph does not time out and thus allowing tissue off-gassing to be observed on an extended deco stop without having to cycle back to it repeatedly. For table divers needing a bottom timer, the Peregrine also offers a very richly featured gauge mode operational to at least { 395 fsw | 120 msw }.

Sport Nitrox Mode Features

Sport divers who don't need extended range features will find the Peregrine even more diver friendly! Key features of the Peregrine single gas Sport Nitrox mode include a simpler menu structure, less cluttered display and configurable bottom row, optional safety stops, and a no decompression limit (NDL) dive planner. The simplified settings allow for one breathing gas mixture (Air or Nitrox up to 40%) and places a greater emphasis on the maximum operating depth (MOD) and no decompression time limit. The display prominently warns the diver if their depth is near, at or exceeds the MOD of the selected breathing gas. Optional safety stops are user configurable to be 3, 4, 5 minutes or adaptable. When using the Adapt setting, a 3 minute safety stop will be used, unless the dive exceeds { 100ft | 30m } or the NDL falls below 5 minutes, in which case a 5 minute safety stop is used. If the diver exceeds the NDL and requires stops, the display turns red and warns "DECO STOP" with the mandatory depth and stop times.

Brilliant dive computer for REC ...

Brilliant dive computer for REC - TEC up to Extended range. Would it have USB-C charging port instead of Micro-USB, it would be 100% perfect. Great service and support by DGX. Would buy again.

Unbelievable value!

Unbelievable value! Simple, intuitive, easy to read and customize. You can spend a lot more(we all have) and get a lot less. The lack of the overrated AI option only adds to its reliability. I believe diving with 2 computers is the proper way especially on extended dive trips/vacations. The peregrine can be readily matched to your other computer's algorithm for a very affordable price. Should you venture into tec or advanced deco diving the peregrine is perfect. On top of all this Shearwater has top of the line customer service. This is a no brainer.

Love this computer!

While this is the first dive computer I've owned, I'm excited to carry this me on dives for years, and even into the early tech side of things. The display is bright and eminently readable in all conditions, while also being well organized and quite customizable, so you have access to a tremendous deal of information as you complete your dive. Haptic alerts that I feel even through 7ml wetsuits and drysuits with big undergarments means I don't have this computer pinging the wildlife and confusing my dive buddies, but still can gather key information like depth alerts and safety stop progression. Bluetooth connections and wireless charging are great points. I've completed 27 dives with this computer, so it's hard for me to say how long the battery will ultimately hold up, but it seems I would be able to get 10 or more dives out of a single charge if I were to push it, although I charge it every night. Simple two-button design, which can still vex my brain from time to time, but is generally very easy to navigate and definitely easy to operate with 7ml gloves. Perhaps the one drawback, if it can be called that, is that there is no air integration of any kind. I've never had AI, so maybe it's a matter of "I don't know what I'm missing," but... I'm okay with checking my SPG. I ditched the strap for the bungees.

I have been waiting for ...

I have been waiting for this type of computer for a looooong time! I just put the first two dives on it. There are several things I like about it. One is the display. It is very customizable and it is ALWAYS lighted. I spend a lot of time in the Florida springs and caverns where it is dark and I have my hands full - I usually carry a camera with strobes and lights and it is hard to light up a traditional computer while doing video or stills in the dark. If you dive springs or caverns, or if you do night or wreck diving you will love the display. Also I am no tech diver but I do dabble in extended range, multi gas, and deco diving. So although this computer DOES have a recreational Air mode and a recreational Nitrox (single gas to 40%) mode, the Three Gas Nitrox mode is where it shines. No helium for trimix, but you can program in three nitrox gases (to 100%) from which to choose. You can plan deco and dive it, switching gas as needed. There are three preset level of deco conservatism from which you can choose OR you can learn about gradient factors and program in your own. On a non-deco dive if you exceed NDL, the computer will whip up a deco schedule for you (better have the gas to execute it!) This computer will never “lock out” no matter how badly you abuse a decompression profile. And the unit is sealed. It has wireless charging (works great) and bluetooth so you never have to break into it and maybe cause leaks. It is lightweight and very compact. Overall I would call this a “rec tech” or maybe “intro to tech” dive computer. And it is half the price of the full-up tech dive computers. So far, a LOT to like and nothing not to like…..

I bought another one for the other wrist a few months ago. I have several dozen dives on them now. These things really are great. I've been diving since 1974 and this is some of the best money I have ever spent on the hobby.

Peregrine vs Perdix 2

Side View Peregrine vs Perdix

Shearwater introduced the Perdix richly featured technical diving computer in 2016 (updated to the Perdix 2 version in 2022), and the Peregrine extended range sport diving computer in 2020. They have identical color displays with very similar core feature sets and operation. At half the price of the Perdix 2, the Peregrine can best be thought of as a value engineered Shearwater dive computer appropriate for Air and Nitrox divers that supports multi-gas planned decompression diving, yet without compromising on quality or ease-of-use.

The Perdix 2 is a best-in-class technical dive computer that includes support for Trimix, VPM alternative deco algorithm, wireless air integration, an electronic compass and rebreathers. the Shearwater Perdix 2 Ti case also has a titanium bezel and titanium piezo touch buttons with user adjustable sensitivity plus an aluminosilicate toughened glass lens that has improved clarity and damage resistance. Compared to the very deep rating of the Perdix case, the Peregrine low profile case design is appropriate for the depth limits of Air and Nitrox divers thus allowing significant cost reduction. Omitting the wireless air integration radio receiver and the electronic compass generates further savings. No need to support mixed gas, VPM and closed-circuit also allows for simplified software. The Perdix is powered with any AA size battery and is user changeable, the Peregrine is powered with an internal rechargeable Li-ion 900mAh battery.

The Shearwater quality, color display and extended range feature set make the Peregrine an exceptional value.
