Backplate Webbing Harnesses are available in Basic and Deluxe styles. The Basic webbing harness is made from a single { 11 ft | 3.4 m } piece of continuous webbing with a stainless steel grommet centered on the length. The Deluxe webbing harness incorporates a chest strap and shoulder-strap pivot rings that increase comfort. The Deluxe harness version is very popular with women and is also available with a slide-release on the left shoulder. Both styles include shoulder and waist D-rings (shoulder D-rings are bent at a slight angle for better access), and an extra heavy-duty stainless steel buckle on the waist band. All three harnesses can be fitted with an optional crotch strap for stability, and optional neoprene shoulder pads to enhance comfort. Assembly instructions included.

• Basic - eleven feet of 2-inch harness webbing with S/S grommet, four S/S 2-inch belt slides, two straight D-rings, two bent D-rings, S/S waist-buckle, printed assembly instructions.
• Deluxe - six feet of 2-inch harness webbing with S/S grommet, two 4.5-foot sections of harness webbing with sewn-in shoulder-strap S/S pivot rings, left & right 1-inch chest strap set with slide-release buckle, six S/S 2-inch belt slides, two straight S/S D-rings, two bent S/S D-rings, S/S waist-buckle, printed assembly instructions.
• Deluxe w/QR - Same as Deluxe, adds a sewn-in 2-inch wide plastic slide-release on the left shoulder. The QR makes it easier for some people to quickly remove the harness & plate while wearing a drysuit and also may be required to meet safety standards of some dive training agencies.

‡ The latest version these harnesses now omit the tubular webbing sleeves originally included in the kits. The sleeves were originally included as solution to a problem that early stamped backplates often had rough edges on the webbing slots that would rapidly wear through the webbing. However, with some plates the triple thickness of webbing created by the use of the sleeves was a challenge to thread through the slots. Today, quality backplates are laser cut and the edges are polished smooth, eliminating the issue and thus the sleeves are no longer required. The DR assembly video and some product documentation may have not yet been updated to reflect the omission of the sleeves.
