DGX Aero Cylinder Clamps
The 9/16-inch wide 302 SS band and 5/16-inch slotted hex 305 SS screw assembly of DGX Aero Cylinder Clamps are both 300 series stainless steel. This is an "American-style" clamp where the grooves in the band are perforated completely through the band, however there are no spot welds to rupture and the one-piece screw housing cannot come apart. Heavy-duty construction enables far more tightening torque to be delivered to the band perforations, meeting the SAE J1508 Type "F" standards. This high grade clamp is widely used for aircraft and heavy-duty industrial applications.
When using ordinary inexpensive automotive hose clamps for securing cylinder stage straps you must avoid using the strap as a carry handle otherwise properly tightened clamps will eventually move and the strap will loosen. These heavy-duty Aero Cylinder Clamps can be torqued down much tighter, significantly reducing movement of the clamp. However, we do continue to recommend avoid using the stage strap as a carry handle. Although this is an industrial grade clamp, with effort it is still possible to break this clamp by over tightening with a hand screwdriver.
The Small clamp fits diameters from approximately { 4.0 in | 10 cm } up to { 6.0 in | 15 cm }. This is most 4 inch and 5 inch cylinders such as the LP50, AL13, AL19, AL20, AL30, AL40, FX15, and FX23. It will NOT fit the tiny AL6. The Large fits diameters from approximately { 7.0 in | 18 cm } to { 8.0 in | 20 cm }. This is all 7 inch and 8 inch cylinders such as the LP85, AL72, AL80, HP80, HP100, HP117, HP120, and HP130.
Once snugged to the cylinder, the clamp will always have some excess 'tail' remaining. If this is a concern, you can tuck the excess inside a webbing sheath or trim off the excess. If you trim the excess, the remaining edge may be sharp so be prepared to also file the end a little to make it smooth.
