The short answer is that many, but not all, of our generic and DGX Gears branded SCUBA products are imported from Asia, typically Taiwan or mainland China. Sources can change as we adjust our selection of vendors and their upstream suppliers.

For a specific product, open the More Information tab on its product page and look for Country of Manufacture. This is our best available origin information, based on supplier disclosures and our knowledge of the product's sourcing. Where clear manufacturing information is unavailable, we may use a reasonable sourcing inference. The entry does not mean every component was made in that country.

The longer answer is that most SCUBA products combine materials, components and labor from places around the world. Manufacturers and distributors are not always clear or candid about this information, and origin disclosures and marketing claims can be incomplete or misleading. A brand's home country, the location of final assembly and the origins of its components can all be different. For a retail merchant like Dive Gear Express, tracing that entire chain is often impractical. In a global economy, the answer to "Where was it made?" is frequently more complicated than a single country name.

Consider something as ordinary as a rubber regulator hose. The hose stock might be manufactured in the United States using imported materials, then shipped to Taiwan to be cut to length and fitted with Chinese-made fittings and O-rings. The finished hose might then be installed on a regulator assembled and tested in Italy using parts from several countries, before reaching us through a US distributor. A "Made in ..." marking on the hose would tell only part of the story of that regulator package.

Regardless, part of the Dive Gear Express mission is to provide premium quality scuba diving equipment with favorable prices, and we are constantly adjusting our global supply chain to deliver on that mission. These adjustments can take many months and in some cases even years to implement.
