The system includes two pockets, each with a capacity up to { 6 lb | 2.7 kg } per pocket, this set is perfect for warm water divers or divers requiring less weight. Weight is secured in the pocket using a low-profile { 1 in | 2.5 cm } quick release buckle and a hook-and-loop safety closure. If the diver needs to ditch weight in an emergency, it is quickly released with a pull of the red tab. The weight pockets can hold { 3 lb | 1.4 kg } and larger block weights (soft bag shot weights are not recommended), and can be mounted with the opening up or down, per the diver's preference.

The { 12 lb | 5.4 kg } QR Weight Pocket Set can be added to any harness with { 2 in | 5.1 cm } webbing, including the Dive Rite TransPac, TransPlate, Basic, and Deluxe harnesses. The pockets attach using two { 0.75 in | 1.9 cm } webbing loops. A { 2 in | 5.1 cm } stainless steel slide prevents the pocket from moving once secured.

I'm a diver with a ...

I'm a diver with a thousand lifetime dives: hold DM, AOW, Rescue, and Tec-40 certs. I bought these pockets to put on my drysuit kit: SS plate, wing, Dive Rite harness. I need the pockets to hold 4lbs on each side, and placed them both sides of my waist straps, positioned right next to the plate. I selected these pockets because I was looking for a small weight pocket with a release function. The pockets are correctly sized for my application. I'm find the red release tab to be a bit hard to manipulate with my 5mm wet gloves on. Also, since it is "dangling" loose on its cord, it's not consistently in the same position. I have to fish for it. Which is a concern, as I only would dump my weights in an emergency. The release feature is not all that confidence inspiring. I feel like I could pull the tab hard, and end up snapping off the attachment point to the buckle and have the tab in my hand and the buckle still closed. Also, if you close the flap over the velcro so that it is tight on a four pound weight, then the flap is to far closed to close the buckle, so you have to sort of hold the flap open, close the buckle and then jockey the flap all the way closed while the velco is trying to grab it as you position it. Finally, I installed these so the pockets opened downward, which you sort of have to do because I'm not going to be able to first pull the release and then grab the 4lb with my fingers and pull it out. So I'm trusting that the buckle and velcro never spontaneously releases the weight. This I am not to pleased with for obvious safety reasons. I'd rather see the red web tab replaced with a hard plastic ball. That would have a more pronounced feel to it. I'd rather be able to mount the pocket right side up, and have the pull function eject the weight as you pull it. I've looked at other 5lb releaseable pockets, even ordered and returned another brand's. I my opinion these could be improved.

This is my favorite weight pocket for travel. After clipping the quick release buckle together, I run my finger under the velcro to close the flap tighter. That way, there's not room for weights to slip through the gap. Depending on my wetsuit thickness, I use either 3 or 4 pound hard weights most of the time.

Sturdy made pouches, but if you use smaller soft weights, this might not be for you

Sturdy made pouches, but the holes on the bottom let 1-2 pound soft weights, ans some hard weights, work their way out. Lost a 3 pound soft bag the other day that I thought would have been to big to slip out, but it did. Three pound hard weight seems to be where it is safe they won’t fall out.

Weights fall out

Nice pouches but I've found that weights (especially soft weights) will work their way out and fall out of the pouch.
