The wrist slate offers not one, but three separate writing surfaces. The leaves flip up for easy access. When you are done writing, an elastic cord helps snap the leaves back in place, and tabs stow the attached carbon stick pencil.
The carbon pencil is sheathed with a protective layer of polyolefin shrink wrap tubing for durability that can easily be removed as needed when sharpening. It also includes the small plastic "cap" that allows it to attach to the elastic bungee.
Thie slate slides up and curves around your wetsuit- or drysuit-covered forearm. Use your choice of two included mounting options: the hook and loop strap or elastic bungee cords to hold the wrist slate firmly in place.
Dimensions: { 4.25 in | 10.8 cm } long (not including the small tab on the second flap) x { 4.0 in | 10 cm } wide x { 1.62 in | 4.11 cm } high
At $6 this is probably the best slate for the money. It is well constructed, using bungee for the pages instead of the little o-rings some similar slates use, and the holes are big enough to actually run a thick bungee cord through them to attach to your arm unlike some other slates that have tiny holes. The writing surface cleans easily with toothpaste or a magic eraser from the grocery store. The pencil is solid and won't get waterlogged and fall apart. I use a Sharpie to write a pre-dive safety checklist on the last page and it won't wash off or fade in water, but can be removed with alcohol.

This is my favourite style of slate. And I prefer the bungies to the o-rings for holding everything together. The closest thing I have to a complaint is that the method of retaining the additional leafs has the bungies knotted underneath. Although this makes the whole package more streamlined, I could feel the knots through my 3mm wetsuit (may not be a problem with thicker suits). This, however, was easily remedied. Untie one knot and rethread it with the knots on top. Fixed!! It also comes with 2 options for securing it to your wrist. I chose to use the bungies for the wrist slate and the velcro strap replaced a broken strap on my Suunto computer. Win/Win.

Another excellent product at an unbelievably modest price. The deco labels fit perfectly for those of us who are particular about fit, symmetry and compatibility. Thanks DGX for the consistent bullseyes!
These are great little slates. Easy to put on with the two different attaching methods. Top two slates flip up and stay up so you can write on the third. Doesn't get caught on other gear (yet). Hardly notice it is there.
I like the slate a lot! Particularly the bungee mount. The the pencil is not so good though and broke in half just trying to park it in the slot. A better system for parking a pencil can definitely be thought up, but overall I am still happy with it and I would buy it again.
