The Apeks DST first stage is a unique over-balanced, diaphragm design - as the diver descends, the over-balancing feature allows the intermediate pressure gas in the hose to increase at a rate faster than ambient resulting in superb performance at extreme depths. The polished chrome plated body has two standard high pressure 7/16-inch ports and four standard high-flow low pressure 3/8-inch ports mounted on a swivel turret. An environmental seal keeps water out of the main spring chamber thus preventing ice buildup and keeping silt and contamination out. The Apeks DST first stage comes standard with a 300-BAR DIN connector.

The Apeks XTX50 second stage is a pneumatically-balanced design that results in smooth, easy breathing. The XTX50 purge button is large and easy to operate and features two-step progressive operation. Press the purge on the side for a lower flow rate, useful where more control is required such as filling lift bags, then press in the center for the full effect of the purge such as when clearing water. The large venturi lever has a soft touch rubber grip, which makes it easier to locate and use. Easy-to-grip opening effort adjustment knob keeps the diver in control. A heat exchanger which surrounds the valve mechanism, dissipates the cold caused by gas expansion while drawing in the warmth of the ambient water. The popular Apeks Comfo-biteā„¢ mouthpiece by Aqualung greatly reduces jaw fatigue.

Apeks brand regulators include a Limited Lifetime Warranty as long as they are inspected or serviced annually by an AQUALUNG AMERICA Authorized Dealer. This warranty covers the original owner against defects in parts or workmanship for the lifetime of the regulator and includes the Free-Parts-For-Life Program as outlined on their website.

How Long is Your Hose?

Dive Gear Express offers regulator configurations that are suitable for hogarthian (aka 'DIR') style diving. A subset of our other regulator packages, the design of the second stages in these selected packages allows the cover to be removed and replaced underwater in order to clear silt or debris, a hogarthian requirement. True hogarthian or not, all of these DGX Custom regulator packages are already configured for hogarthian hose routing to eliminate bowing and dangling hoses. You get the correct length hoses and there is no extra 'hose kit' to buy, making these packages an even better value.

Hogarthian hose routing for doubles yields 'standard' hose lengths that work most divers, but not everyone. Nearly all overhead divers with doubles use a standard { 84 in | 2.1 m } LP hose but a few open water divers use a shorter { 60 | 1.5 m } LP hose for their primary second stage, and both put the backup second stage on a { 22 in | 56 cm} LP hose hung on a necklace directly below their chin. Most doubles divers use a standard {24 in 61| cm} HP hose for their pressure gauge, but some divers (either diving singles or who like to hold their gauge a little further away for reading) prefer a slightly longer {26 in | 66 cm} HP hose. Most divers select a standard {22 in | 56 cm} BC power inflator hose, but a few divers prefer to have the power inflator rest very high on their shoulder and use a shorter {18 in | 46 cm} BC hose. Our configuration tool allows you to build a regulator package to your specifications.
