These DGX premium Neoprene Pocket Shorts are made of 2mm super-stretch neoprene (thicker than normal) featuring flat-lock and double needle sewn construction, easily pull-on over a wetsuit or drysuit, and have a nylon cord drawstring waist for an adjustable fit. Two large 1680 denier ballistic nylon cargo pockets provide convenient gear storage, with a large velcro flap closure to keep items secure and includes stainless steel D-ring on the flap for easy opening. Each of the pockets have two { 4 in | 10.2 cm } webbing straps with { 1 in | 2.5 cm } D-Rings to attach tools and an interior mesh pocket, along with five 3/4" Stainless Steel Grommets. Velcro tabs on the sides keep the pocket flat when empty. Like any neoprene garment you may need additional weight to compensate for the buoyant material. The pocket is { 9 in high x 6 in wide | 22.9 cm x 15.2 cm } and the internal depth expands from { 0.5 in to 3 in | 1.3 cm to 7.6 cm }.

  • Small measures { 25 in | 63.5 cm } in it's relaxed state, and { 40 in | 101.6 cm } fully expanded
  • Medium measures { 30 in | 76.2 cm } in it's relaxed state, and { 45 in | 114.3 cm } fully expanded
  • Large measures { 35 in | 88.9 cm } in it's relaxed state, and { 50 in | 127.0 cm } fully expanded

Note that these shorts are designed to accommodate a wetsuit/drysuit plus underwear and of course the material itself has a lot of stretch as well. Please take that into consideration when choosing your size. The sizes run LARGER than normal.

  1. Decent overall

The small size is a little snug in the crotch for how big they are. The waist and legs are a bit baggy on my 5'9", 160lb frame, but the inseam is snug. The build quality is excellent and they're comfortable underwater, so overall I'm happy with them. I actually find the pockets a little easier to access in sidemount than the Apex shorts.

  2. Great Product!

Pockets are very well made. I don't see the problem with opening them that others have mentioned. Seems to be how you open them. Or the pocket may open easily because they are snug on me. I don't see any loose stitching. Great how the pockets fold flat when not needed. Excellent attachment points in the pockets. I am 6''5", 260 lbs. and 42" waist. The large is running a bit small for me. Mostly, short in the length from crotch to waist. I could not be any larger and use them. I will know better after I try them on a dive. I think they are an excellent value for the money!

  3. Great Pockets, Well-Designed (No More Neoprene Please!)

Pockets are great to have, especially when wreck diving, but also just for general recreational/tec diving. The pockets are well executed, sturdy, and have nice rings and straps to secure equipment inside. The velcro closures are strong and large. The only drawback to these shorts is that they are mostly made of Neoprene. I would prefer another material that is non-compressible so that the shorts would be neutrally buoyant instead of adding a bit of buoyancy.

  4. Good not great

I LOVE the idea of these shorts. I bought them, and really wanted to love them. I have worn them many many times, as I dive for a living. A few "issues" are that I feel that they are too baggy. Granted I am on the smaller side (5'8" 150lbs 28" waist) however if the shorts were narrowed or maybe had a way to tighten the leg holes, then I would like them more. For now, I would suggest the glue on pockets. The waist does not get very tight, I had issues keeping them on my waist, and not falling down my thighs as I swam. The pockets are awesome tho. Deep, secure, easy to close, stay closed, easy ways to attach things in the pocket, and the pocket is split. Like I said I wanted to love them... I really did, but they need to be tweaked.

perfect for when I do wreck diving, I can put them over my wetsuit and carry extra reels and torches without fear of them getting snagged.
