Dive Rite recently began shipping their fins with polyoxymethylene (aka Delrin and POM) swivel buckles for the spring heel-strap that allows the strap to swivel out of the way for easier donning. The heel-strap length can be changed by moving the buckle locking screw between 2 positions on the buckle, allowing the strap fit to be customized to your preference. The strap also has a new design heel pad with a lower profile finger hold pull tab that is more durable and less likely to become a snag point. The Monoprene injection molded fin blade itself including the heel-strap attachment point on the blade and its excellent in-water performance is unchanged, other than the addition of the blue color option.

The XT w/Spring Heels version of the Dive Rite fins offers a marine grade stainless steel buckle that secures the heel strap to the blade. The special blade design works for any style of kick, including frog kicks, modified flutter, and power kicks. The XT fin's blend of Monoprene™, an injection-molded thermoplastic elastomer material, offers excellent balance of power to work ratio, providing efficient finning in high flow or stiff currents. They are stiff, yet with plenty of snap. Plus they are lighter weight than traditional rubber fins meaning you are less likely to cramp with long distance swimming.

These fins come with a marine grade stainless steel spring-heel strap, specifically designed for Dive Rite fins for quick donning/doffing. A molded heel pad provides comfort, while a low profile finger hold adds to the ease of use without creating snag points. A lightweight POM swivel buckle secures the heel strap to the blade, and allows the spring strap to swivel out of the way for easier donning. Divers can customize the fit of their straps by moving the buckle locking screw between 2 positions on the buckle.

When selecting the size, keep in mind which style suit you will be diving -- wetsuit booties or a drysuit. The Extra Large size accommodates some oversize drysuit boots.

NOTICE: Dive Gear Express always ships unused new fins, but all fin materials have some characteristics that upon close inspection can make new fins appear aged or used. By design, all fin materials are soft regardless of brand, so handing during manufacturing and shipping through various points of the supply chain will inevitably cause the appearance of some minor cosmetic scuffs. Some fin materials, especially rubber, also contain a mold release agent that exhibits a gradual "blooming" of a haze on the surface of the fin as it dries following manufacturing, giving the appearance of oxidation and aging. If the cosmetics are bothersome then they can be improved by scrubbing the surface with ordinary soap, water and a cloth.

What Size Fins Do I Need?

Unlike shoes, the question is difficult to answer with fins because a 'shoe' size is only part of the answer. The brand and type of neoprene bootie you wear, particularly if you wear heavy soled or rock boots, will have as much effect on the selection of fin foot pocket as the shoe size. Some people, especially those with high arches, prefer a loose fit in their fin and others prefer a snug fit. Fitting drysuit boots in the very large sizes is especially problematic.

There is no size standardization between brands of fins (or even between different models from the same brand) and so you cannot assume that a size in one brand of fin is the same dimensions as the size in another brand; even when the designs look very similar. Taking some actual measurements of your boot while on your foot and comparing to our foot pocket dimension charts will help determine the size selection for your desired fit.

Determine your correct size before you order! If you are not certain about your fin size then our recommendation is not to order until you can obtain that information. While Dive Gear Express will accept fins for return, you will be responsible for return shipping costs. Return shipping costs on fins can be expensive (especially from an International location) because fins are a relatively low priced item that has a high 'dimensional weight'. Your complete satisfaction is our goal, so please consider carefully before purchase.
