Out-of-stock for much of 2021, our original Hi-Viz braided polyester (aka Dacron) line was round. Returning to stock in March 2022, our new Hi-Viz line is a 'flat' style braid that allows more line to be loaded on spools.
The Dive Gear Express Hi-Viz Line is a braided polyester (aka Dacron) material that costs a bit more than generic nylon, but this abrasion resistant high tenacity line has slightly negative buoyancy, resists kinking, and has minimal stretch. Our Hi-Viz line is stronger than #36 nylon line, yet is flat, so you can load extra on the reel.
Traditional braided white nylon line is difficult to see in open water, but our Hi-Viz Blaze Orange line stands out like neon, allowing easier line management with nearby divers. The durable orange of our Hi-Viz line also remains the vibrant blaze color over time, unlike the "wash-out" fading typical of ordinary nylon cave line. View the twenty second video above of two divers on their stop during a training dive to watch the Hi-Viz Blaze Orange line in action.
We are often asked 'What is the tested breaking strength?' Unfortunately, there are no standards for the test methodologies, so it's impossible to compare published ratings from different sources. Our supplier tested both our line and a widely used white nylon guideline found on reels, using the same method for each test. The results show both have several hundred pounds of breaking strength, although our line is stronger. Frankly, both are more than strong enough for diving purposes.
i have this line since maybe 2 year several wreck exploration with it the line is very strong very resistant to cutting impressive ! just be carrefull to don't snag your spool cause this line is also flat and very thin so it can pass to place it shouldn't ... by the way when you'r inside the line is very visible and this is very nice feature i also respool my dsmb reel to benefit from the strenght of this kind of line . highly recommended

I have this on. 3 reels and decided to respool all my reels with it. I also like the fact you can splice and eye into the end instead of tying a knot which reduces the break strength. Splicing also provides a cleaner look. I could keep going on about this product but they sum it nicely on their page. This is another great product and a great price. It no wonder DGX is my go to shop.

I bought a spool of the bulk high viz yellow line a few years ago, figuring it would be a lifetime supply, with extra to share with friends. It works so well I found more uses for it, added spools and reels, and now find myself needing a refill. Great stuff, highly recommended!
The choice of blaze orange, chartreuse (yellow-green) or pure white has been studied by human factors experts for other applications such as transportation signage and high-visibility clothing. While we are not aware of any studies for diving applications, those other studies and our own experience provide good guidance for our recommendations.
Choose orange for maximum visibility in well lighted conditions, choose pure white for absolute maximum contrast in very low-light conditions. In our opinion, your best compromise choice for all conditions is the chartreuse yellow-green color.
