  • Ultra high performance balanced diaphragm design
  • First stage offers 4 LP and 2 HP ports
  • Choose Metal or 5000 second stage
  • Ambidextrous 2nd stage can be used from left or right
  • Cold Water and Nitrox Ready

When it was introduced, the Cyklon was the first piston regulator with a single hose and the demand valve situated at the mouth. Though materials and design have updated over the years, thanks to its proven durability the Cyklon is still a choice of the US Navy and long time technical divers.

  • Poseidon Cyklon DIN First Stage
  • Poseidon Cyklon Second Stage in 5000 Black or Metal
  • Choice of Cyklon OEM rubber hose length, plus free DIN regulator cap
  • CE certified to EN250 European standards
  • Cold Water and Nitrox Ready

The Poseidon Cyklon First Stage Regulator offers 4 LP and 2 HP standard size ports, DIN 300 Bar fitting and is approved to the EN250 CE standard. Important: The Cyklon regulators work at an IP of { 166 psi | 11.5 bar }, which is considerably higher than typical of most modern regulators. Dive Gear Express recommends using the Cyklon first stage only with the Cyklon second stages.

The Poseidon Cyklon Second Stage Regulator is available in a choice of two different versions. The Metal second stage is the original pilot-operated downstream demand valve design in the classic metal body. Beyond the mechanical strength, the high thermal conductivity of the metal body can also reduce the dry mouth feeling caused by breathing compressed gas. The 5000 second stage is the identical design but updated in a plastic body that offers a reduced weight and lower price. The plastic body second stage should not be used in water temperatures {50°F | 10°C} or colder because the plastic body does not have enough metal parts to act as a heat sync and absorb heat from the water to prevent icing up in cold waters. The Cyklon second stages can be used in either a left or right configuration.

The Poseidon Cyklon second stage uses a unique fitting size that is NOT compatible with standard LP flex or rubber hoses.

Tek Tip Warning Image WARNING

Because of the history behind the Cyklon model second stage, there is a compatibility issue with modern standard hoses. The second stage 9/16-inch male fitting that accepts the female fitting on the hose will just barely seal with the #10 o-ring in the barrel of the hose fitting. It WILL seal, but if you pull hard on the hose at various angles you can usually find a position that will cause a slight 'fizz' of tiny bubbles at the fitting. We have tried the standard regulator hoses from a variety of suppliers and all seem to exhibit the issue to some degree with Cyklon model second stages. Dive Gear Express also offers third party hose adapters that allow our standard low-pressure rubber and flex hoses to be used with any Cyklon model second stage.

If you substitute a standard hose without an adapter, do NOT use undue force to over-tighten the hose fitting in an attempt to address this behavior. The second stage cracking pressure adjustment screw extends out in to the barrel of the fitting more than most second stage designs, and over-tightening will cause the hose fitting to bottom out against the end of the adjustment screw. This results in the second stage no longer being able to swivel on the hose, and possibly causes the cracking pressure adjustment to change as well.

Poseidon USA advises us that they are aware of this behavior, limited exclusively to Cyklon model second stages, and to address this issue they offer Cyklon specific OEM heavy rubber hoses. Dive Gear Express offers Cyklon specific OEM hoses in the only lengths available from Poseidon.

The modern Cyklon first stages sold by Dive Gear Express have ports with industry standard Unified Standard Fine (UNF) thread forms: UNF3/8 for low-pressure and UNF7/16 for high pressure. The ports of modern Cyklon first stages are stamped IP for low-pressure (aka intermediate pressure) and HP for high-pressure. However, VERY OLD Cyklon first stages have outlet ports that are not standard. All the ports on those vintage first stages are a British Standard Pipe (BSP) Whitworth thread form. The trade name size is G1/8 and the body of these very early Cyklon first stages may be stamped with the "G1/8" identification. Poseidon makes the PDS-2415 Adapter: G1/8 Male to UNF3/8 Female (for low-pressure hoses) and also the PDS-2910 Adapter: G1/8 Male to UNF7/16 Female (for high-pressure hoses).
