Why Another Camera?
Since many experienced divers have a really good digital underwater camera, and most cell phones include a camera, what need does the SS1000 Snap Sights camera fill? The answer for some divers is 'none'. However, a basic tenet of photography is that the best camera is the one you have on hand when you need it. That professional camera is not always the solution for grabbing a quick picture and cell phones or pocket cameras don't like to get wet and are probably buried in a dry bag. Sometimes you just need a quick shot on the boat of a gauge reading, a configuration idea, a misbehaving piece of equipment, or the dolphins swimming by. A brief video showing a student how they are performing a skill in the pool can be worth a thousand words. This camera answers those kinds of needs. Stash it in your dive bag or tool box until you really need it to just take a picture. Click the image at the left to see this unedited 1280x960 photo taken at the 1.3MP setting.
