Hi-Viz Dacron Line loaded on bulk spool

The Dive Gear Express exclusive Hi-Viz Line is better than the generic nylon line commonly used in diving applications because it is high tenacity braided Dupont Dacron®. Hi-Viz Dacron costs a bit more than generic nylon, but this abrasion resistant line has slightly negative buoyancy, also resists twisting or kinking, and has minimal stretch. Our Hi-Viz Dacron line is stronger than #36 nylon line, yet is slightly thinner than #24 nylon line, so you can load extra on the reel.

White line is difficult to see in open water, but our Hi-Viz Dacron line stands out like neon, allowing easier line management with nearby divers. Available in both orange and yellow colors, choose Hi-Viz Dacron Orange for best distance visibility or Hi-Viz Dacron Yellow for best low-light visibility.

Hi-Viz Line in Action

Watch this twenty second movie of two divers on their stop during a training dive. There is some current and the divers are working to be careful to avoid entangling their lines. One diver is using ordinary white nylon line and the other is using our Hi-Viz orange Dacron line. See if you can find where the diver is also carrying a backup finger spool with Hi-Viz line.

We are often asked 'What is the tested breaking strength?' Unfortunately, there are several different types of synthetic polymers sold as nylon and no standards for the test methodologies, so it's impossible to compare published ratings from different sources. Our supplier tested both the Hi-Viz Dacron line and a widely used white nylon guideline found on reels, using the same method for each test. The results show both have several hundred pounds of breaking strength, although the Hi-Viz line is stronger. Frankly, both are more than strong enough for diving purposes.

Cave divers use line arrows, also known as 'dorf markers,' to indicate the direction of the closest exit. They provide both a tactile and visual reference. Line arrows are available in white or glow-in-the-dark, and are 2 3/8-inches long.

Line Cookie (Non-Directional Marker)

Sometimes a directional marker (line arrow) is not the proper marker to leave. Non-directional cookies mark a specific place on the line, but do not give directional information. Cookies are available in white only and are 2-inches in diameter. They are preferred over line arrows for setting up traverses or circuits because a directional marker on the line could be misinterpreted as pointing away from the closest exit - disastrous in an emergency. They are a must at jumps, especially jumps made from points at which no permanent marker has been installed. Placed on the outbound side of the jump, they confirm the exit direction as divers return to the jump.

The WArrow is a heavy-duty directional line marker that is 2.5 inches long (63.5mm) and .25 inches thick (6.35mm). Almost twice as thick as a “standard” line arrow this marker is built to last.

The WAsquare is an information marker that provides multiple options for use. While attached to the line this can specify a distance, location, or a message for other divers. Over 3 inches (76.2mm) in total length with a writing area of 2in x 2in(50x50mm).

WAjoomp Dedicated Jump Spool

The WAjoomp is a dedicated jump spool from WhiteArrow that has a small storage space in the side of the spool which allows a WArrow line marker to be stored there, reducing the time it takes to deploy a marker and line. The 3-inch diameter by 2-inch wide WAjoomp holds 165ft (50 meters) of orange 35kg nylon line. The WAjoomp comes standard with their revolutionary “line swivel” which helps eliminates line twisting, and a Glove Rod to make it easier to use with thick drygloves in very cold water. Also WA does not use knots in their line (a knot reduces the strength of the line by 30% - 35%) and all line loops are sewn together for added strength. A WArrow marker, 316SS Double Ender and WA neoprene carrying pouch are also included.

WA FAS-t Line Measuring Instrument

This unique product from WA allows quick and easy distance measurement of existing deployed cave line at a rapid pace. The FAS-t is a diving survey instrument allowing the diver to single handedly measure any length of line in a cave or on the surface. Perfect for the Cave explorer, Cave Scientist, or survey enthusiast. FAS-t Line Meter requires no pre-knotting or measuring tapes attached to the line to be surveyed, as it uses it's own 4 digit resetable counter, which can be either in meters or feet and for archaeological purposes even centimeters. The FAS-t can survey any thickness line, cable or rope. The FAS-t Line Meter also includes attachments for a compass and survey pad. Quality Delrin construction with an approximate total length of 7 inches (175mm) it provides very smooth operation.
