Rite Source BC Integrated Backup Regulator
The ultimate tool for streamlining, the Rite Source is attached to the inflator hose on any BC and is fed by the first stage in the same manner as any regulator. The Rite Source can be assembled on nearly any BC and eliminates the need for a separate back up regulator aka 'octopus'. It is supplied with a hi-flow quick coupling hose that replaces your standard low pressure BC inflator hose-- thus eliminating the hose and dangling octopus regulator that is a hassle.
When needed, the Rite Source allows the diver to breathe normally as from any second stage. While breathing, the diver can simultaneously and rapidly inflate the BC as well as deflate, or orally inflate, as you would on any standard inflator mechanism. This system is also perfect for use as an on board bailout system on the O2ptima Closed Circuit Rebreather.
The Rite Source is a complete solution that works with nearly all BC's. The assembly includes a 28-inch low pressure hose with the special hi-flow quick disconnect fitting, a 16-inch corrugated hose, and a pull-to-dump rapid exhaust elbow. To attach to Dive Rite air cells, just remove the existing inflation assembly from the air cell and replace with the Rite Source. For other BC's, remove the Rite Source from corrugated hose assembly, remove the existing power inflator on the BC, and attach the Rite Source in it's place.

You can not use a standard BC inflator QD hose Schrader fitting to supply the regulator, as the regulator would not receive enough gas due to flow restriction. The high-flow fitting style for this regulator is what is known as the 'ScubaPro' quick disconnect, and requires a BC hose with a special female 'ScubaPro' style QD connector which is supplied with the regulator. You can also use the HOAD8 adapter fitting together with a standard or Miflex low pressure regulator hose in any length you prefer. |
