Better than rubber! Double braided polyester hoses are a considerable improvement over rubber hoses because the double braided hose is more flexible, stronger and weighs less than a rubber hose, but most importantly it is more durable. These double braided hoses are CE EN250 approved, Nitrox Ready and yet very attractively priced.
An average lifespan 3x longer than traditional rubber hoses.
More than 30%% lighter weight and exceptional flexibility compared to traditional hoses.
Outstanding resistance to kinks, abrasion, and UV.
LP/BC Burst pressure of 6,000 psi is several times that of rubber low pressure hoses.
HP Burst pressure of 22,000 psi is several times that of rubber high pressure hoses.
Note that all high pressure hoses use an 'air spool' with two tiny o-rings to mate the swivel connector on the hose to the fitting on the gauge. The air spool is not included with the hose (see the price list below to order) but we recommend replacing the air spool when replacing the hose. The standard spool has the flange in the center as pictured at right but a few SPGs, typically the plastic body ones, may only accept a spool without a shoulder in which case you will have to reuse the air spool from the SPG.
Are Double-Braided Flex Hoses Better Than Rubber?
YES, after generations of rubber as the status quo in scuba hoses, technology has finally been used to improve this important product used by every diver. Every aspect of the double-braided polyester hoses out perform rubber hoses. Double-braided is much more flexible, at least a third lighter, much more durable, kink resistant and enormously stronger.
According to our suppliers, these products are Nitrox Ready. Nonetheless, the 'clean state' of this equipment applies only prior to initial use. Thereafter, periodic inspection and cleaning are a necessity. You must meticulously follow the recommendations of the US Department of Transportation (DOT), Compressed Gas Association (CGA), and other federal/state/local agencies, plus your dive training agency for equipment maintenance, handling, storage, labeling, filling, transport and use of compressed gases. Compressed gas related fires and explosions can result in serious injury or death. Ultimately, you must make the final decision to assume all risks associated with the use of compressed gases.
