Important - Read This First - Diving Hoses
We now offer three different classes of hoses for scuba: Phantom brand hoses; Miflex brand hoses, and quality generic hoses. We offer all three classes in all three different types of application: High Pressure for SPG's, BC Inflator, and LP Regulator. In addition to popular sport-diving hoses in a variety of lengths and fittings, we
stock hard-to-find technical diving hoses such as seven-foot regulator second-stage hoses, 22-inch low-pressure
inflator hoses, and 6-inch high-pressure hoses. All our hoses are suitable for use with any mixture of air, nitrox, trimix or pure oxygen customarily used in diving applications. LOOK CAREFULLY to make sure you are ordering the hose you seek, we offer so many combinations of classes, types and lengths on this page it is easy to make a mistake.
Choosing between these hoses can be confusing so we offer some analysis: The generic standard rubber diving hose is what you might expect and has been around, pretty much unchanged other than modest improvements in quality, since the beginning of modern scuba. We carry a high quality standard rubber hose made in the US. A more recent innovation is double braided polyester hoses, these are a considerable improvement over the standard rubber hoses.
The double braided hoses are more flexible, stronger and weigh less than standard rubber hoses but most importantly they are more durable. We carry two different brands of double braided hoses: Miflex (made in Europe with CE approval) and Phantom (made in Asia, no CE mark). The Miflex brand hoses have been imported in to the US for a couple years and have been extremely well received, but are quite expensive when compared to standard hoses. The Phantom brand hoses are just now being imported into the US, but have been in other markets for several years, and are much more attractively priced than the Miflex. The Miflex includes premium packaging in a nice reusble dry pouch. The kevlar reinforced high pressure Phantom hose is a typical thickness that works better in boots and consoles, the Miflex HP hose is ultra thin and lacks the kevlar reinforcement. It's too early for a final recommendation, but currently we can't find any significant differences in quality between the two brands. We think double braided hoses are the future and will likely become the new standard for scuba hoses, completely supplanting the rubber hoses.
