Hollis 221 and 212 Second Stages Hollis DC3 and DC1 First Stages
Both the Hollis second stages offer venturi assisted breathing, a dive/predive switch to eliminate free flow, as well as a balanced design that maintains consistent inhalation effort throughout the dive by compensating for depth changes. Both second stages include an orthodontic mouthpiece for comfort and reduced jaw fatigue, with easy grip controls even while wearing gloves. The 212 second stage venturi assist is adjustable, while the 221 second stage venturi assist is not adjustable. The dynamically adjustable venturi assist on the 212 allows the diver to set the cracking pressure and inhalation resistance to their personal preference. The Hollis first stages feature an overbalanced diaphragm design that allows the intermediate pressure to progressively increase as depth and gas-density increase, for consistent gas flow regardless of depth. Both meet CE standards for cold water performance and include the environmental sealing kit to protect against contaminants and icing. The DC1 is a swivel turret design providing optimum hose routing and the DC3 is a more compact fixed port design. Recently updated, the DC1 now adds a fifth low pressure port on top of the swivel turret.

Swivel vs Fixed

The internal structure of the fixed port design allows for a very direct gas flow through the first stage, providing optimal performance. However, the absolute cleanest hose routing is only available using the swivel turret design. Streamlined hose routing is a significant concern for experienced divers, where the swivel design can make a noticeable reduction of drag. The objection to the swivel design is that it adds moving parts to a more complex gas path, theoretically being less reliable and of lower performance. However, in our experience with quality regulators these theoretical concerns about reliability and performance are irrelevant. All the regulators offered by Dive Gear Express are high performance products with proven reliability, and the reality is that both these designs will more than meet your expectations. The choice is largely a matter of personal preference. In general we observe most technical divers tend to select the swivel design, and single tank divers tend to select the fixed port design.

Hollis N-Swivel DC1/212 Regulator w/ 28 inch MaxFlex Hose

This primary regulator package offers the 212 adjustable second stage with the DC1 first stage and a 28-inch hose. The DC1 swivel design makes for very smooth hose routing on doubles as well as deco/stage/bailout bottles. A sweet breather in all positions and extremely dry, divers also like the set-it-and-forget-it function of the Dynamic Adjustment. The DC1 has been updated to include a fifth low pressure port on top of the swivel turret. The DC1 now has five low pressure standard 3/8-inch UNF ports and two high pressure standard 7/16-inch UNF ports.

Certified for 100% oxygen service thanks to highly specialized component materials and manufacturing processes, the Hollis Oxygen Regulator is the perfect choice for a deco regulator setup. It exceeds CE performance standards and is assembled in a clean room environment. The HO2 first stage is composed of marine brass, and has no internal chrome plating which has been shown to contribute to flash combustion. The HP seat is composed of Dyneon, a tradename of 3M, which has exceptional heat and chemical resistance and doesn't support combustion. The HO2 has an indestructible unbalanced piston design, and comes standard with a 300 BAR/4500 PSI DIN connection and 40-inch regulator hose. The 210 second stage has a patented orthodontic mouthpiece for maximum comfort on a long deco.

321 Balanced 2nd Stage Octopus, w/40-Inch Yellow MaxFlex Hose

The 321 Octopus second stage is designed on the same platform as the high performance 221 pneumatically balanced second stage. It comes standard with a high visibility yellow front cover and a 36-inch yellow hose. The 321 second stage has an orthodontic mouthpiece with high density bite tabs for comfort, as well as an adjustable dive/pre-dive switch.
