The VRx is a full decompression dive computer incorporating the Variable Gradient Model (VGM)
decompression algorithm, and a derivative of the Bühlmann ZH-L16 algorithm with modifications to support deep stops, adjustable shallow stop depth, and dynamic decompression ceilings. The VRx allows user selectable switching between both algorithms. During a decompression dive, the VRx provides complete information displays of all required stop times. The VRx can provide time-to-surface based on "look ahead" at planned gas switches. The VRx will NOT "lockout" after a missed stop or ascent rate violation. The VRx also provides outstanding support for semi-closed and fully closed-circuit rebreathers.
About VGM - Haldane theory is the basis of most decompression algorithms, from simple dissolved gas models through to complex bubble growth systems. Using their own extensive track record in dissolved gas and bubble growth modeling, VR Technology has pioneered a new decompression algorithm utilizing the benefits found in all of the Haldane systems while implementing some new techniques.
Most algorithms heavily penalize the diver for using large fractions of helium, but not with VGM. The VGM algorithm takes into account the high helium content becoming common in rebreather technical diving. VGM allows the diver to extensively customize the deep to shallow stop ratio and the overall stop time at each level. The VRx also provides for user selection of the well established Bühlmann ZH-L16 algorithm with deep stops.
