Additional features include:
- Gas Mixtures -- The NiTek Duo can be set to monitor exposure to two different gas mixtures. Mix 1 is
settable for Nitrox mixtures ranging from 21% Oxygen (Air) to 50% Oxygen (Nitrox 50). Mix 2 is settable for
Nitrox mixtures ranging from 21% (Air) to 99% (essentially Oxygen).
-
Modes -- Mode indicators make it easy to determine what display mode or screen you are in at any time.
- Time Display Mode
- Option Set Mode
- Plan Mode
- Dive Mode
- Gauge mode
- Log Mode
- Profile Mode
- PC Upload Mode
- Surface Mode
-
Displays -- The NiTek Duo offers extremely easy to read and intuitive information displays. In dive mode, the NiTek Duo displays the following information during a dive:
- Fraction of oxygen setting for Mix 1 and Mix 2
- Oxygen limit bar graph representing cumulative oxygen exposure ("CNS Clock")
- Actual partial pressure of oxygen (PPO2) for current mix and depth
- Residual nitrogen bar graph representing cumulative nitrogen absorption
- Current depth and maximum depth attained
- Elapsed time
- No-decompression time remaining
- Water temperature
- Also displayed in Dive Computer mode are the following indicators:
- Symbol indicating current mix setting (gas being breathed -- either Mix 1 or Mix 2)
- Symbol indicating Nitrox mode (In Air mode, no indicator appears.)
- Symbol indicating current water salinity setting (sea or fresh)
- Symbol indicating decompression stop is required
- Symbol indicating a Safety Stop including a 3-minute countdown (at 20 feet)
- Symbol indicating excessive ascent rate ("slow")
- Symbol indicating low battery
- In surface mode, the NiTek Duo displays the following information upon surfacing from a dive:
- Surface interval time
- Desaturation time
- Oxygen limit bar graph representing cumulative oxygen exposure ("CNS Clock")
- Residual nitrogen bar graph representing cumulative nitrogen absorption
-
Alarms -- Audiable alarms in Dive mode, including the following:
- Alarm indicating approaching or exceeding maximum PPO2 (1.4 for Mix 1, 1.6 for Mix 2)
- Alarm indicating exceeding recommended cumulative oxygen exposure limits
- Alarm indicating change in required decompression state
- Alarm indicating ascension above a manditory stop ceiling depth
- Alarm indicating decending below a diver selected preset maximum depth
- Alarm indicating a diver selected preset dive time has been reached
- Alarm indicating excessive ascent rate
- Units -- The NiTek Duo can be set to display data in either imperial or metric units.
- Altitude & Depth -- The NiTek Duo automatically adjusts for altitudes up to 19,680 feet, and is
capable of functioning at depths at deep as 328 feet in computer mode and 656 feet in gauge mode.
- Date & Time -- On the surface, the NiTek Duo constantly displays date and time in either standard
12-hour or 24-hour military formats.
- Safety Factor -- The NiTek Duo can be set with a choice of normal or conservative decompression safety
factor.
- Logging -- The NiTek Duo can be set to track and record dive data in 15- or 30-second intervals. The
NiTek Duo's memory can hold and display log data on upto 30 hours of dive time or 60 dives.
- Buttons -- The NiTek Duo uses easily accessible and highly reliable push buttons instead of exposed
electrical contacts.
- Lighting -- You can illuminate the NiTek Duo's screen by using its backlighting feature.
- Uploading -- After dives, you can upload detailed dive information to a personal computer using Dive
Rite's optional Docking Station and NiTek Logic software
- Battery -- User replaceable battery, with typical life of three years at 50 dives per year. The
battery is a widely available low-cost button battery.
