Hollis DG05 Trimix Dive Computer

The Hollis DG05 is an richly featured dive computer offering support for all Air, Nitrox and Trimix recreational sport and technical open circuit diving with optional upgrade to constant PO2 rebreather closed circuit diving. The DG05 incorporates a next generation color OLED display for outstanding DG05 Complete Package readability and supports wireless monitoring of multiple cylinder gas pressures via up to four wireless transmitters. The VGM decompression algorithm incorporates the best of Bühlmann gradient factors, bubble models and Haldane dissolved gas models. The built-in battery system is a step towards reducing the burden on the environment and is supplied with an international charger capable of charging from any 240v/110v source.

Dive Gear Express is offering the DG05 configured with Air, Nitrox and Trimix support,VGM deco and PC Link data download enabled plus the universal charger, wrist strap, documentation CD and storage box, with optional upgrade for constant PO2 closed circuit rebreather at the time of purchase. The CCR upgrade can also be added later, if you transition to rebreather diving in the future. PC Link cable with Prolink desktop software and wireless cylinder pressure transmitters sold separately.

DG05 Front, Side and Back Views

The Hollis Gear DG05 is a full decompression dive computer incorporating the Variable Gradient Model (VGM) decompression algorithm. Most algorithms heavily penalize the diver for using large fractions of helium, but not with VGM. The VGM algorithm takes into account the high helium content becoming more common in technical diving. VGM allows the diver to extensively customize the deep to shallow stop ratio and the overall stop time at each level. The DG05 also provides for user selection of the well established derivative of the Bühlmann ZH-L16 algorithm with modifications to support deep stops, adjustable shallow stop depth, and dynamic decompression ceilings. The DG05 allows user selectable switching between both algorithms. During a decompression dive, the DG05 provides complete information displays of all required stop times. The DG05 can provide time-to-surface based on "look ahead" at planned gas switches. The DG05 will NOT "lockout" after a missed stop or ascent rate violation. The DG05 also provides outstanding support for semi-closed and fully closed-circuit rebreathers.

What is the Difference Between a DG05 and a VRx?

The DG05 dive computer is supplied by Hollis Gear, a member of the American Underwater Products family of dive related companies. The VRx OLED from VR Technology, a United Kingdom based company, is the latest dive computer design that is a direct descendent of the highly regarded and exceptionally popular VR3 technical dive computer. Hollis has licensed the feature rich and field tested VRx design, added a few refinements including their wireless HP gas monitoring technology, and named their version the DG05. The resources of American Underwater Products also provides rapid and responsive North American based service and support for their DG05 version.

PC Link Cable and Prolink Software for DG05

The PC Link cable and ProLink software are used to download and analyze dives from the Optocon interface on a DG05 dive computer to MS Windows PC via standard USB port. PC Link also includes upload feature permitting the installation of PINs, personalization details, and gas profiles via the PC Link rather than manually. The package includes a data cable, Software Suite (downloaded from internet), and storage case. The Software Suite includes ProLink logging software, PC Link drivers and documentation. This package includes cable and software only, as the base DG05 from Dive Gear Express already includes the C11 download PIN.

HP Wireless Transmitter for DG03/DG05

This small wireless transmitter screws in to the high-pressure (HP) port of a first stage regulator and can communicate with the Hollis DG03 and DG05 dive computers to allow them to display the cylinder gas pressure (in PSI or BAR) without the use of the typical HP hose. This feature is often referred to as hoseless 'air integration' but since the dive computers are capable of handing a variety of breathing gases the term air integration is a misnomer.

Each transmitter has its own unique ID and up to four transmitters can be linked to a DG05 or up to three transmitters can be linked to a DG03 computer. The transmitter is charcoal in color, rated for depth up to { 330 ft | 100 m }, and has a user replaceable CR2 battery. As supplied, the transmitter is suitable for use with any breathing gas mixture including 100% oxygen.

HP Wireless Transmitter An antenna inside the dive computer receives the signals when it is positioned within { 72 in (6 ft) |1.8 m } of the transmitter and within a zone parallel or at a 45 degree angle to the transmitter. Best reception is achieved when the dive computer and transmitter are within { 3 ft | 0.9 m } of each other. During a dive you may at times move the dive computer so that is out of the signal pattern of the transmitter, resulting in a temporary interruption of the link. The link may also be interrupted if the dive computer is within { 3 ft | 0.9 m } of a running DPV or after a strobe light flashes. The link will be restored within 4 seconds after the dive computer is reoriented, moved back into range, or the interference clears. For technical diving, Dive Gear Express recommends following the best practice of also including a standard analog SPG on the regulator as a backup.
